Course Introduction
In view of growing demands of the present generation for Job Oriented education, UGC produces vocational courses in M.L.T. College Saharsa introducing degree vocational course in Biotechnology for the 1st time in north bihar from the session 1998-99 although, the course was formally inaugurated by Hon’ble Chancellor cum Governor DR. A.K.Kidwai on 18th march,1996, UGC provide both requiring & non requiring grant to establish the infrastructure of the laboratory.
Scope
In the field of Pharmaceutical Technology, Dairy, Agriculture, Food Processing, Forensic Lab, Several other Industries, Research & Teaching in India & abroad.
College’s Infrastructure
A Separate building with well equipped laboratory and maintained Class room for the proper convenience of Students.
Class Room: Separate lecture hall for each part furnished with audio & Visual System
Laboratory: To make skillful handling of Apparatus. These are separately:
- Microbiology Lab
- Cell & Molecular Biology Lab
- Biochemistry Lab
- Plant & Tissue Culture Lab
Seminar Hall: Well mentioned Seminar Hall is available for the Presentation.
Hostel: For boy’s & Girls available in College Campus.
Library: Approx 2000 books in various copies of renowned & established Authors available at Biotechnology Department.
Eligibility for Admission
Any student including male or female candidates must have following eligibility for admission in this 3year Course:
- Must passed Intermediate or any equivalent examination from recognized Board/University with Physics, Chemistry & Biology securing at least 45% marks in aggregate.
- Must have qualified at the amplitude test organized by the college or department (followed by viva-voce examination)
- Reservation seats for Sc, St & BC are reserved as per university rule.
- Amplitude test will be of multiple choice and objective pattern of Questions based on Physics, Chemistry & Biology Syllabus of Bihar Intermediate Education Council & CBSE.
- · Time of Amplitude test will be of 2 hours.
- · No of Seats available are 30.
Students admitted under three year B.Sc. Hons. Vocational Course shall be governed by B.N. Mandal University, Madhepura.
Course structure
The degree vocational course shall be covered in 3 academic years and shall be known in the first year of study as Degree Vocational Hons. Part –I, in second year of study as Degree Vocational Hons. Part-II and in the three year of study as Degree Vocational Hons. Part-III.

Mode of Examination
There shall be a written Examination for each of the theory papers and the duration of the examination shall be according to the UGC guidelines & University rules.
Internal Assessment/ Practical/ Project work Examination in Vocational subject shall be of four-hour duration and subsidiary practical examination as per university rules.
Award of Degree
Each successful candidate B.Sc (Vocational) Honours Examination shall receive in token of his/her degree in prescribed from specifying the name of the college and the class in which he/she was placed.

A group of regular faculties are involved in teaching of major part of syllabus provided by UGC. Some guest faculties are also making their contribution in teaching.
